Kymani Marley and Femi Kuti will both be performing at this year;s Felabration.
This year’s Felabration will be celebrating not one but two legendary musicians.
Organizers have announced Kymani Marley, son of Reggae music legend, Bob Marley is one of the top acts for this year’s Festival. He will join Fela’s son, Afrobeat maestro Femi Kuti as headliner.
Other headliners include Fuji icon KWAM1, Pop icon 2face Idibia and bestselling rapper M.I.
The theme of Felabration 2013 is ‘Movement of the People’.
The annual international festival instituted to celebrate the life, times and music of Afrobeat creator Fela Anikulapo Kuti kicks off on Monday, October 14, 2013 with a symposium titled: ‘Movement of the People: The Fela/Bob Marley Perspective‘.
On Tuesday, October 15, the music segment proper of the festival will hold at the New Afrika Shrine, Ikeja, Lagos.
On Saturday October 19, 2013 a street carnival will hold on the streets of Ikeja, Lagos. This will include street dances from brightly coloured choreographed dancers and brilliant display by colourfully attired gymnasts performing atop flatbed trucks.
The high point of this year’s festival will be the Sunday October 20 performance of Femi Kuti and Kymani Marley on same stage.
The year’s events technically started on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 with the Secondary Schools Debate held inside the Freedom Park, Lagos. This year’s debate was won by Oriwu Senior Secondary School for the second year running.
